WORTON — Three student musicians from Kent County High School were admitted to the All Shore Band this year.

They are senior Aaron Saunders, who earned second chair trumpet; junior Phoebe Preston, third chair clarinet; and freshman Björn Birkmire, eighth chair trombone.

To be admitted to the All Shore Band, students participated in blind auditions, playing scales and two prepared pieces, and sight reading.

"Earning a spot in the band is prestigious and shows the students' talent, dedication and hard work in preparing for the audition," said Kent County High School band teacher Jodi Bortz.

One Kent County Middle School student was admitted to the Junior All Shore Band.

Eighth-grader Tanaya Jackson earned second chair bass clarinet.

Junior auditions are similar, but include only one prepared piece instead of the two required for the high schoolers.

The All Shore Band will play together April 12 and 13. A public concert will be held in the evening April 13 at Easton High School.

All Shore Band is sponsored by the Eastern Shore Band Directors Association.
