Kent County Public Schools is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, recognizing the important role our educators play in children's lives. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10, with Tuesday, May 7 being recognized as National Teacher Day.

"During Teacher Appreciation Week, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers who dedicate themselves to shaping minds and nurturing spirits," said Dr. Karen Couch, superintendent of Kent County Public Schools. "Your unwavering commitment, passion and creativity empower students to reach their full potential and inspire a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we are deeply thankful for the impact you make every day. Habilitative Services

Information and Resources on Special Education — with link

Habilitative services are health care services that help you keep, learn or improve skills and functioning for daily living that may not be developing normally. 
 
These services may include:
• Physical Therapy
• Occupational Therapy
• Speech-Language Pathology
• Applied Behavioral Analysis
• Behavioral Health Treatment
• Psychological Care
• Therapeutic Care
• Other services for people with disabilities including inpatient and outpatient settings.
 
Under Maryland law, if your child has a congenital or genetic birth defect existing at or from birth, including a hereditary defect, your child qualifies for habilitative services under your health insurance or HMO contract.
 
These defects include but are not limited to:
• Autism or autism spectrum disorder
• Cerebral palsy
• Intellectual disability
• Down syndrome
• Spina bifida
• Hydroencephalocele
• Congenital or genetic developmental disabilities.
